Just wanted to let you know that I am still here. I haven't been on in a while. I am in the process of moving, ( what a hassle ), and I lost my job on June 1st after 22 yrs., so you can imagine how crazy things are for me at the moment. No summer leagues for me this year, but hopefully I can get hooked up in a league for this winter. I'll post again after I get settled. Take care everyone.
Last 2 weeks
I haven't been on much lately. Been busy buying a house, so I haven't had much time to post.
I fought back from 2 weeks ago when I wasn't doing well. Just a lack of focus because of all that is going on.
2 weeks ago: 644 on Tues., 639 on Weds., and a whopping 566 on Thurs.
This week I kind of made up for that, but Thursday was a definite disappointment.
Tuesday: Game 1: X X X X 9/ X 9/ X X 9/X for a 238
Game 2: 7- X X 9/ X X X X X X X 9 for a 255
Game 3: X X X X X X X X X 9/ 9 for a 278
In the 2nd game I started with a split and went for it. It was the only bad shot I had for the night. Ended with a 771 series. In the Third game I left a ringing 10 pin in the tenth and a solid 9 on the fill ball. More importantly I hit our strike jackpot for $1003.00. It was a great night
On Weds: I went with the same shot.
Game 1: X X X X X X 9/ 9/ 9/ 5/ 9 for a 241: Don't know where the five came from but the ball was on target and never moved.
Game 2: X X X X 9/ X 9/X X 9/ X for a 238
Game 3: X X X X 9/ X X X X X X X X for a 279. Stinking 10 pin in the 5th
Series : 758
Thursday: I went with the same shot, the shot was there, but the carry wasn't. I shot games of 185 with 2 opens, 226 with 1 open and 225 clean for a 636 series. The lanes I was on are very hit or miss. If you can find the carry angle you are good, but if you can't you will leave a lot of single pins and that is what I did.
This weeks scores
This week I was better score wise, but I was still having an issue with carry. I had 4 no-taps this week, but these aren't no-tap leagues. Still, I was very pleased with my bowling. My accuracy was good, and I made some good adjustments, though not always as quickly as I should have.
Tuesday Night: 244, 201, 238 for a 683 series. I started out well, then was a little off in the second game. I was having trouble picking up my target because of the glare from the lights. I made some adjustments, and found it again half way threw the third. The only problem came when I threw a split to start the 10th. Killed my 700. Brought my average up to 211. It's a shame that I had such a bad start in this league. Only 4 weeks left. ( 2 opens on the night )
Wednesday Night: 219, 227, 248 for a 694 series. I can't really complain. If I could have caught a couple of breaks I would have had a great night. In the first 2 games, I did not throw anything less then a 9 count. Funny thing was that in the third I threw a couple of 7 counts, made an adjustment and finished with the last 7 and scored better then the first 2 games. Brought my average up to 219.( 1 open for the night )
Thursday Night: 224, 236, 256 for a 716 series. Again I had some carry issues at the beginning of the night. I kept making small adjustments to try to help my carry. It helped a little, but not what I was hoping for. In the third game I made another move , and changed my entry angle, and I started hitting really well. The stingers were a solid 8 and a solid 9. This night had a lot of potential. Looking forward to next week. Took back high average at 220. ( 1 open on the night )
I've been letting my teammates know that these last few weeks are going to be bitter sweet as I have to leave all the leagues. I am moving, and will be about 80 miles away. I have also cancelled my summer league obligations. Bummed of course, as I have been here my whole life, but I have to do it. Hopefully I can get hooked up in a league next fall.
Hey A.J. Going to the north side of you now. Buying a house in White Haven in the Poconos. I will still be at States.
This week in bowling
It was one of those weeks. I threw the ball well all week, but just couldn't seem to carry. I bowled pretty well , but I feel like I should have scored a lot better, but it was a week filled with stingers for me.
Tuesday: 195, 266, 214, for a 675 series. In the first game, I threww every ball in the pocket. Left one pocket 7-10 and was clean the rest of the game. The only problem was I lived on 9 spares. In the second game, I carried, and threw the same shot as the first game. In game 3, I threw the same shot and couldn't carry again. All 9's and 4 strikes. What can you do.
Wednesday: 217, 217, 211 for a 645 series. All three game I was just throwing bombs, but I was on a pair that is notorious for leaving single pins and I left a ton of them. I tried a lot of different angles, but always got the same result. Started the third game out with the first 5 and never got another strike after that. Still scratching my head.
Thursday: 247, 216, 198 for a 661 series. This was the most frustrating night of the week. In the first 2 games I threw every ball in the pocket. In game 1, I started with the first 6, then went 9 spare and only had 1 strike on the last 6 frames. In game 2, I had 5 strikes and and six 9 spares. In game three it was all 9 counts, so I tried a less aggressive ball and it hooked more then my aggressive ball and really screwed me up for the last three frames. Couldn't figure that one out. Threw well enough to throw perfect for the first 2 games but just kept getting stoned.Very frustrating.
I will check back on Sunday evening, heading for the Poconos for some R&R and some drinking. Have a good weekend everyone
Week of 3/6/2009
This week was good overall, but I did have to overcome some adversity. I managed to hang on and make some adjustments, even if they were not what I would usually make.
Tuesday : Games of 198, 232, 268 for a 698 series. The first game I was lost. It was not that I was throwing a bad ball, but more that I could not carry. Throughout the night, I kept making adjustments, and as the night went on, the adjustments paid off, and I was able to come out with a good night. In the third game I played a shot that I neveer played, but it was just the ticket. I threw every ball in the pocket, but left 9/ 9/ on back to back shots. You will not hear me complain.
Wednesday : Games of 189, 193, 264 for a 646 series. The night started off badly. I couldn't carry sugar cube on a rainy day. Nothing was working. I went to a lline that I have never played for the third game, and Pokeno!!! I was golden. I was gald to save a 6 for the evening. It was also the first night of our bracket ( top 64 like the college basketball ), I was seeded #3 in my bracket, and was up against the 14th seed. Well after 2 games, I was down by about 30 pins. I really had to bear down. I would have been embarrased as hell if I would have lost. Well the third game was the difference, and I came out on top. What a relief.
Thursday : Games of 247, 235, 243 for a 725 series. This night was very good, but I still made a few mental mistakes and it cost me. In the second game, I left a waving 7 and missed the spare, because I came off the side of the ball: (open frame). Then I punched out. In the third game, I was horrible at the start. It wasn't looking good, but I thought out an adjustment and went with it. After that I was locked into the lane. Just a couple of bad breaks kept me from scoring even better. I'm ready for next week.
